About Colton Industries, Inc.
Colton Industries was established in 1988 as a brand name of Y, Basket and Temporary strainers. Over the next 10 years, the product line was expanded to include a full range of steam traps, and steam specialty products along with check valves, butterfly valves and flexible connectors.
Incorporated in New York State in 1998, Colton has since added additional product to their offering, including Triple Duty Valves and Pump Suction Diffusers.
Colton Industries products are the featured product line of Steam Specialty Sales Ltd in Canada

Steam Traps
Steam traps are automatic valves that filters out condensate (i.e. condensed steam) and non-condensable gases such as air without letting steam escape. In industry, steam is used regularly for heating or as a driving force for mechanical power. Steam traps are used in such applications to ensure that steam is not wasted
Steam Specialty Sales offers various types of Steam Traps such as Float & Thermostatic and Thermodynamic, as well as Inverted Bucket Steam traps to best suit your application
Pipeline Specialties
Steam Specialty Sales offers a variety of Pipeline Specialties to meet the needs of your steam system application. From Drip Pan Elbows to Vacuum Breakers, as well as Separators and Air Vents, Steam Specialty Sales can provide the best option for you!
Strainers
Strainers can be defined as a pipe fitting through which liquid is passed for purification, filtering or separation from solid matter; anything used to strain a liquid; any device functioning as a sieve or filter used to prevent solid bodies from mixing in a liquid stream or flowline.
Types of Strainers offered by Colton Industries include Y-Strainers, Basket Strainers, Duplex Strainers and more. Contact our representatives for more information on which strainer would suit your needs
Check Valves
Check valves are two-port valves, meaning they have two openings in the body, one for fluid to enter and the other for fluid to leave. There are various types of check valves used in a wide variety of applications. Check valves are often part of common household items, generally are very small, simple, or inexpensive and work automatically, most are not controlled by a person or any external control;
Quarter Turn Valves
Quarter Turn Valves are bi-directional valves that can be fully opened by a quarter turn of the disc, vane, plug, ball, or other device that serves to close or open the flow path.
Steam Specialty Sales offers various quarter-turn valves such as, Butterfly Valves and Ball Valves from leaders in the industry such as Apollo Valves and Colton
Foot Valves
A Foot Valve is a type of check valve that only allows one-way flow. Use foot valves when you have situations that need a pump, such as when water needs to be extracted from an underground well. Foot valves keep the pump primed, allowing water to flow in, but not letting it flow back out, making them ideal for use in pools, ponds, and wells.
Flexible Connectors
The basic function of Flexible Connectors is to provide piping systems with the flexibility needed to absorb noise and vibration, compensate for thermal growth, or permit motion of other piping elements
Our flexible connectors are a perfect match of style, wall thickness and design to minimize the forces and stress within piping systems. These connectors are factory engineered, manufactured and tested to effectively isolate vibrations transmitted by mechanical equipment
Triple Duty Valves
A Triple Duty Valve is a combination valve that provides all of the functions normally required on the discharge side of hydronic pump systems. The design combines three valves into one: a calibrated balance valve, a spring loaded check valve, and an isolation/shut-off valve.
Pressure Reducing Valves
Pressure Reducing Valves are designed to reduce incoming water or steam pressure to a safer constant predetermined downstream level. Depending on the type of valve, the downstream pressure is established by a pressure adjustment setting on the valve or by an external sensor. Pressure Reducing Valves are utilized in residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial applications.
Compressed Air Drain Traps
When water gathers at low points in pipelines, it reduces the air-carrying capacity of the line. Eventually, airflow over the water will propel the water along the line, touching off water hammer and potential damage from a high-speed slug of water entering a tool. In cold weather, accumulations of water may freeze and burst lines.
Fabricated Vessels
Colton Industries offers a variety of Fabricated units, from Flash Tanks & Condensate Coolers to Blowdown Tanks, that can help maximize efficiency of your overall steam system. Our specialists can help determine and offer the best unit for your applications.
